There are more than 140 million bags of coffee produced across the world every year – some excellent, some good and some downright ordinary. At Altura coffee roasters in Auckland we direct source the best green coffee beans from the world’s finest coffee growing regions and design a specific roasting profile for every batch of coffee beans we roast.  Altura’s quest for perfection is a theme that runs through every part of our business: from roasting world class coffee to our barista training, equipment supply and wholesale support – not forgetting the excellent food and award-winning coffee served at the Altura café on Auckland’s North Shore.

To attain coffee perfection, we have to be able to influence every step in the journey from green bean to cup. At Altura we maintain long-term relationships with our coffee farmers and buy only the best of the harvest. Then we roast the beans, giving them time to breathe before bagging them to keep the coffee fresh and fragrant for our customers.

We also work closely with our wholesale customers, providing barista training and equipment support to help make sure that when Altura coffee hits the cup, it’s perfect.

At Altura we are continually looking for ways to be better.  We offer truly world-class single origin coffees and Fair Trade and organic coffee blends. It matters to us that New Zealand stays clean and green, so we’ve taken action. In order to reduce our carbon footprint, we supply cafés using Altura coffee with fully compostable takeaway cups and lids – at the same price as a conventional cup.

We’ve been seeking coffee perfection for over twenty-five years.  Our founder and master roaster, Chris White, was one of the first boutique coffee roasters in Auckland and he plays a significant role at the forefront of New Zealand’s coffee industry. Chris is an integral part of the judging panel at the World Barista Championships each year and is recognised as a forward thinker and challenger of conventions.
