Purchased this after a bit of online research. This seemed to be the best value proposition on the market from what I could see.

The steaming is next level, unmatched at this price in international markets and especially in NZ where exclusive importers mean high markups on some brands but not others.

Coffee extraction is good and reliable. Good crema, good flavour. The large diameter makes a big difference here.

I love how professional the mechanical aspects of the machine are. Everything feels sturdy and designed to last.

    Machine is easy to clean.

I love the simple interface – you can pretty much use the machine with your eyes closed after a few weeks it’s so easy.

If you compare this to Breville models with an inbuilt grinder (cheaper but far inferior quality) and a weak steamer, for me it was a no brainer to spend the money and the quality is astounding. More expensive models were out of my price range and wouldn’t fit on the bench.

I paired this machine with a Compak K3 Advanced grinder after trying and being dissatisfied with the Rocky Doser. Perfect partner for the machine if you’re looking to ditch takeaway coffees – cheap grinders and preground coffee aren’t enough if you’re trying to replace the cafe.

I haven’t bought a coffee from a cafe since I bought my machine and I’ve gone through a kilo and a half of beans in a month!

The machine is the updated V6 version with a few parts changed that would get dirty over time, as well as a few reliability updates and a new steam wand – it’s great that we get the latest and greatest from Altura, with a NZ plug and warranty!

    I second Bradley's review...this is a great machine

I too paired this machine with the Compak K3 Advanced grinder. There may be a better combination out there, but I very much doubt it. I get a high quality crema tone consistently. I only use the SHB Guatemala beans from Altura….just an amazingly complex and satisfying taste. I second all the comments in Bradley’s review above.
